AOL names top CLT nightspots

AOL CityGuide announced Tuesday the results of its annual "City's Best" poll (view the full list).

Here are the nightlife results:

I'll give them the Visulite (although Neighborhood Theatre is a close second) and Cosmos for cocktails, but Bar Charlotte for singles scene? I would never admit I met a significant other at that skeazy place. And Stool Pigeons for sports bar? That place has TVs from the 90s -- some of which are set so low you can't see the screens through the seated bar patrons. Why not Hickory Tavern, or even Fox & Hound?

What do you guys think? Did AOL and its readers get it right? What would your "best of Charlotte" list look like?

    If your looking for a bar with alot of tvs, I'd check out Hickory Tavern on Johnston.

    I would agree with Cosmos. I've only been to Snug Harbor on sundays so not sure, but they do have a great bloody mary bar.

    Bar? ugh. gross !

    I think Comet would rank pretty high for dive bars also.

    Picasso's is a better sports bar than Stool Pigeons.

    Had not Snug Harbor been mentioned, I would've thought this list was from 2003.

    Nice going AOL, this list is almost as relevant as you are.

    Bar best dance club or singles club? Seriously? Try Suite if you are single...Whiskey River not bad for dancing or HOM and yeah Hickory Tavern, hands down way better sports bar than Stool Pigeons

    Bar Charlotte should not be the "best" anything, unless you're looking for the best place to catch a disease or the best place to meet someone from Gastonia.

    I hope Bar Charlotte burns down. That place is a joke and everyone that goes there is fugly. I have never seen so many gross, trashy people in one place.

    Bar Charlotte best dance club? Um, how about the Forum - the only club between DC-Atlanta-North Florida to have the world's top three djs (armin van buuren, tiesto, and paul van dyk) all within the last three months.

    Get a clue, AOL.

    Live music??
    Come on! That's gotta be The Evening Muse!
    That place is amazing. Great atmosphere, friendly people, great location, and ALWAYS...always...great music.

    The Visulite choice is also a bit dated. Some of the best shows I have ever seen were at the Visulite. However, in the past two years their bookings have sucked. Neighborhood Theater has taken the title for best live music. Not even a question.

    I really wish the Visulite would improve. With Elizabeth booming like it is, having a good live music place in the neighborhood would rule.
