Waiting at the EpiCentre

Despite having only three (four if you count the Pavilion on Thursdays) venues open and being surrounded by half-finished buildings and floating bits of insulation, the EpiCentre continues to draw a crowd.

I managed to get my dad -- an avid piano player -- to stay out past 10 and check out Howl at the Moon. After waiting in line with a parade of young women in impossibly short skirts, we made it into the packed piano bar. So packed in fact that we left after 10 minutes.

My advice: If you don't want to wait in line and you want a good seat/spot at the bar at any of the venues, you better be riding up that escalator by 9 p.m. at the latest.

The lines are ridiculous. We waited the other week at the first line for about 20mins which was okay but the second line to get into Suite was ridiculous. For about every 50 so called VIPs they let two peons in. The fact that the lines are crazy and that I dont find Suite that impressive, I dont think I'll be going back anytime soon.

Shades of Yogi Berra, eh?

Seriously Sarah you could perform a real community service by trying to find out where these folks come from to pack such venues.

What is with this city and its fascination with the EpiCentre. The new bars are overpriced, overcrowded, and offer the same exact thing as the countless other watering holes in this town. It's like that with any new place that opens. You stand in line and can't find a bartender to serve you to save your life just to go to the "it" place. Wait in line if you want, but I'll be drinking cheap beer at the Thirsty Beaver!

2 lines? I dont think there is any bar uptown that is worth a 20 min wait. Hard to have a good time when you are standing outside.

So I can wait in line, to wait in line, to wait in line an get a beer. All to hang out with a bunch of people who proabbly dont have a origional thought between them. I am with anonymous, cheap bear and people woth talking to at the Beaver sounds just fine.

Speaking of the Beaver, I went by there Sat night to check it out about 10pm. There were no cars at all. I thought it was closed. So do they have some crazy hours or whats the deal?

I agree with all the other posters. We were the second people in line a couple of weeks ago at Suite and after 25 minutes of the "VIP's" getting in, we finally left. The only way to get in there is to spend $450 for a table, or to know someone that works there.

Why does everybody complain when a place is crowded? It isn't that big of a deal. I would rather a place be full of people than be empty. More people usually means more fun.
