The Fray headlining new uptown amphitheatre

After years in the making, the N.C. Music Factory will finally be hosting live music acts this spring.

Live Nation announced Wednesday that The Fray will be playing the first concert June 13 in the new outdoor boutique amphitheater at the entertainment complex. Tickets go on sale Friday.

The Uptown Amphitheatre at the Music Factory will have a capacity of 5,000.

Also opening in June (date to be determined): a Fillmore music venue with a capacity of 2,000. The Fillmore opener has not been announced.

Live Nation will exclusively book both venues -- about 25 shows annually at the outdoor amphitheater; 80 shows annually at the Fillmore.

From the Live Nation press release:

"The Uptown Amphitheatre is situated in a beautiful outdoor setting with soaring views of the Charlotte skyline, elevated lawn seating, traditional outdoor seating, premium box seats with food and beverage service, and an indoor VIP area with private restrooms, private bar and views of the stage. The concession area has a 'bourbon street' feel with multiple permanent restrooms with pedestal sinks, full length mirrors and private stalls."

This is a great venue for medium-sized acts in Uptown. Good stuff!

As I've consistently said since this project was announced, I am eager to see if this means the Live Nation acts that go to Myrtle's House of Blues will now stop in CLT IN ADDITION to Myrtle, in place of, or if acts that would've played non-Live Nation venues in Charlotte simply slide over with no real net gain in dates and acts.

It has certainly been the case the HOB has hosted many, many acts who did not bother with Charlotte.

Get ready for those fabulous LiveNation $8 draft beers and $5 bottles of water! And I'm sure their "convenience charge" and "venue fee" will be reasonable as well. Can't wait!
How about supporting your live local music scene Charlotte? There's more talent here than most cities have the privilege of experiencing.

The Fray was originally scheduled to play Verizon, but the concert is moving to the factory. Tickets to the Verizon show will be honored at the new amphitheater.

Wow, hadn't heard about this. Will Live Nation be sending new tickets? Hope I don't lose my pit seats.

Sarah, any idea if the ticket prices will be the same at the new location? Thanks!

Sooo... LiveNation is shifting The Fray from a 18K venue to a 5K venue?

Sounds like a better fit.

I attended the Uptown Amphitheater last night for the Fray show and I was impressed with how nice the venue was. The sound was great and my seats were great. The only semi-negative thing that I really have to complain about was that literally to get to my seat I had to have my ticket checked by at least 5 people every time I wanted to grab another drink or use the restroom. I can understand maybe once or twice.. but 5 was completely unnecessary. Other then that I give the venue two thumbs up :-)
