Gov't Mule set to play new Fillmore club

The new Fillmore at the N.C. Music Factory has its first confirmed act: Gov't Mule, on July 24.

Though the venue is scheduled to open in June, the Southern rock band today became the first to officially be booked at the 2,000-seat music venue. Live Nation expects to host about 80 shows a year at the Fillmore, which will be styled in the tradition of the original San Francisco location.

According to the press release:

"The new Fillmore will feature the iconic music venue’s trademark décor, including red oak hardwood floors, red painted interior, vintage posters of legendary live music performances, magnificent chandeliers throughout, state-of-the-art lighting and sound, as well as, stadium style tiers that create great sight lines from anywhere in the venue, a VIP area and more."

Tickets to the Gov't Mule show go on sale April 18 at 10 a.m. at livenation.com, select Blockbuster stores or charge by phone at 877-598-8698.

I struggle with this venue opening under a LiveNation Umbrella. They totally leveraged buying the one in SF to open the same names across the country (Detroit, Philly, NYC, Denver, Miami, DC). While the Fillmore in SF is a treat, it's never been the same since BGP sold it. I fear the likes of Maxx Music and the Neighborhood Theater being squeezed out and being stuck with Live Nation only acts (at their prices).

Just adds another venue for music besides the Verizon ampiFIELD. I hate that place. You can't see anything if you cannot get front row seats. The "HUGE" TVs need to be replaced... they show nothing.. static.. the sound system is awful if you're on the lawn as well. Visualite, Neighborhood Theater are great when you're lucky enough to get the tickets --they go fast if it's a great band. Now regardless of what I said about Verizon, we will be there 10/3 for the widespread panic/ABB show... especially if it may be the last BIG tour for ABB.

Great, another place to see more middle of the road acts in CLT.

Great to hear that Gov't Mule is coming to Charlotte. I was hoping that the NC Music Factory/ Fillmore-CLT was going to be independent like the Visulite and Neighborhood Theaters, but it's got to be so hard to get national acts to come to your establishment these days. I've been to the S.F. Fillmore and if it's like the original, it's going to be an awesome venue! GOV'T MULE is going to "KICK A**!!!!

Awesome! Another LiveNation venue to bring even more douche bag bands to this city so Charlotte can continue to pretend like it has some kind of happening music scene. I guess I'll keep driving to Asheville and Chapel Hill to find good music.

$22 lawn ticket for The Fray is really $35.50 once Live Nation finished humping you. Why not just jack prices an even 200% and call it a day. I know it's not a ton of money "dollar wise" but it's the principle.

If the Fillmore and Live Nation bring more music choices to Charlotte, great. If the Fillmore is simply a chain venue that kills Visulite, Neighborhood Theatre or Amos', then this will be a bad thing. I hope for the former, but am more afraid of the latter. I'll be very interested to see in NC Music Factory livens up our music scene, or simply becomes another yuppie meet market party zone.

Excited for this venue to open up. With Live Nation behind it, you know they are going to be bringing local, regional, and national acts to Charlotte. Just what Charlotte needs!
