A note to my readers

I wanted to give you all a heads up that this will be my last week at the Observer. I've taken a job in Atlanta.

You can read my last column Friday online or in the CLT entertainment section.

I've appreciated all of the feedback this blog has generated, and I want to thank everyone for reading and keeping me on my toes. It's been a lot of fun and I'll miss meeting you guys out and about.

Beginning next week, entertainment editor Theoden Janes (who can be reached here) will take over the Party Picks column for CLT and CharlotteObserver.com, and both the section and the Web site will continue to offer all the best local entertainment news and event listings. You'll also still be able to find slideshows of local partyers on our Web site.

  1. So sorry to see you go! Never got a chance to meet you out and about. I'm sure I'm not the only person who liked you better than (ahem) the person you replaced. Good luck in Atlanta!

  2. You've been a bright spot in Charlotte's news scene. (Despite what all the old fogies are likely to say.) Sorry to see you go, and good luck in Atlanta!

  5. I thought you looked hot as hell in your lady gaga outfit on Halloween.

  6. Do not let the door hit you in the arse on the way out.

  7. I'll miss the photo's of the white yuppies flashing their gang signs with drink in hand.

  8. Best wishes! Don't worry about them Sarah. Just wave at them and say "hi haters"!

  9. Wow Charlotte. Way to make this city look like a bunch of jackasses with your spite filled goodbyes.

Good luck with your new job, Sarah.

  10. Sarah-
    I enjoyed reading.
    Good luck in Atlanta...

    And to those negative comments...
they're just trying to be funny.
    SO lame.

  11. Atlanta? Really??
Ah, well... good luck with your next adventure!

  12. Hopefully there will be an Epicenter or Bob Durkin in Atlanta. Perhaps you could work for them part-time. Either way, I'm sure the Charlotte versions of both will miss you greatly!

  13. best of luck - I'll miss your pics ;P

  14. The epic-center's darling will be leaving! Oh my. Who will promote their lies now?>!!

  15. So funny seeing how people say negative things about your column, but seem to read it all the time. Good luck at CNN.

  16. I liked your info and read your column often. Good luck in Atlanta, its no Charlotte!

  17. Sarah, thanks for the great job while you were here. You will be missed. I looked forward to your pictures every week and your articles daily. Best of luck to you in all your future endeavors!

  18. I'm really sad to see you go but wish you the best of luck at CNN. I have relied on your party information ever since you took over for Tonya. Theoden has some really big shoes to fill!

  19. Best of luck with your new job (at CNN? nice) and in Atlanta. I think you'll discover, as I once did, that Atlanta, while a very nice place inside the Perimeter, is culturally not so different from Charlotte and is in fact some ways even more conservative.

Anyway, sounds like a good career move and having Atlanta on your resume is never a bad thing. Just be prepared to get bored after a while and want to move to New York or Los Angeles or Chicago.

Thanks for your work here in Charlotte.

  20. All The Best Sarah...Good luck, take care, and God Bless.

  21. Lucky! I want to move to Atlanta ASAP. Charlotte is BLAH. I'm in the early stages of moving there. Goodluck!

  22. Glad to see ya go....worst of luck to ya.

  23. Sorry to see you leave. Your column was one of the bright spots in the local drivel driven Observer. I can only hope that your replacement will not take us back to the previous ethnic centered hip hop scene, to the exclusion of all of the other interesting social events around the city.

Good luck to you and god bless.

  24. Good luck in your new job. i wasn't a big fan (one of those old fogies mentioned above), but you seem like a nice person.

  25. Does your gig in ATL involve out-of-focus photography? I figured there's a market for a talent like that somewhere.....

    ReplyDelete
  26. What kind of job in Atlanta?

    ReplyDelete
  27. screw the epicenter!! and see ya

  28. TAKE GHAZI with you Sarah we don't need him, he left us with a carnival cruise ship parked uptown.

    ReplyDelete
  29. OMG, you'll be leaving Charlotte too! Well we have been blessed to have you, and we will miss your smile! I wish you a wonderful new life and career.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Damn, you mean instead of reading your posts I'll actually have to go to events here to find out how dull and white-bread they are?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I know you'll have a new entertainment market to write about with all that major adult entertainment everywhere

    ReplyDelete
  32. You will be missed greatly! Now I really have no reason to read the Observer. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  33. Why would you want to leave CLT for ATL? Being from CLT and living in ATL Charlotte has much more to offer as a whole than just a night life. As for the qoute from anonymous who said "Damn, you mean instead of reading your posts I'll actually have to go to events here to find out how dull and white-bread they are?" Maybe you should move to atlanta then you can be amused by the dull black bread entertainment, robbed and shot for just being a bystander.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Maybe some one will now let us know about events other than the preppy partys inside the 277 loop!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sorry to see you go, Dear. Thanks for smiling and working hard at your job. I hope to see at the beach(if I ever go again). Best of luck in Atlanta.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Glad to see that another person is escaping the Observer. Maybe soon they'll start cutting some of their untouchable, but heavily overloaded, "management" staff - particularly those in the advertising department.

Good luck in your new job!

  37. Atlanta is loads of fun and a great market. Best of luck. I'm sure you'll wow your new bosses.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I wish you the best, even though I seldom read the column, since it's not my cup of tea. What are you going to be doing in ATL? If you're writing, give us a link to where we can follow you. If not, good luck in your new endeavours.

  39. You have provided an acceptable way to waste time at work. (Keeping up with the local paper/scene.)

Best of luck in the ATL.

...why don't people refer to Charlotte as the CLT?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I hope you're moving to buckhead.Anywhere else is the ghetto.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I wish you well in your next gig. Don't pay attention to the snarks who don't know you.

Remember what Grandpa said, "Any jackass can kick DOWN a barn."

    ReplyDelete
  42. I wish you the best of luck in the ATL. You'll be missed on the QC party scene. Maybe you can make a cameo at the Bartender's Ball :D

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well, honey, all the best in the world to you. May you grow up to be just like me in ever way.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Good luck to you, Sarah...Personally, I love Atlanta...And despite what some folks have said here, I actually find the people down there much friendlier than they are here. I'm a native of Charlotte, and I used to go to Atlanta much more often than I do now (only because my sister moved down to Mississippi). It's a great place to visit and a vibrant symbol of how great the South can be when it wants to.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Wait Sarah had a hot Halloween costume and I missed it! I will definitely miss seeing you around town and your cameos in the party pics. Charlotte just lost a really lovely young lady.

    ReplyDelete
  46. ..good luck in your new job neighbor...

  47. PLEASE take tanya, franco and tommy with you.

  50. Somethings are best things are left unsaid.

Why is it that when public people make a change in their life they consult only the closest of family and friends yet feel the need to tell everyone.

Those who are jacking Sarah, may you in turn get the same in the future.

Those who dis Atlanta please tell my brother. Those who dis Charlote, well you should have been here 20 years ago.

As far as Theoden goes.... ewwww!

The CO needs a hot chick to run the column and nothing else will do.

To Sarah, you rock and I hope you find a great job in something other than print media, its a dead end you know.

    Cedar Posts Out!

Not going to hate on Theoden, though. I think he'll do a great job as well!
