Wednesday night party on hold

Pop Life has been put on hiatus as promoters Michael Kitchen and Carlton Hargro search for a new venue for the popular Wednesday night party.

The guys decided to move the party from Loft 1523 where it has been held since April.

Kitchen and Loft owner Adam Whalen declined to comment on the decision to cut ties.

In an e-mail message, Kitchen wrote: "Pop Life and INFUSION (an occasional Friday night party) will no longer be held at Loft 1523. Although I'm really hurt by this unfortunate turn of events, I promise you that we will be back soon at a new location that has yet to be named -- bigger and better than ever."

He went on to thank the staff at Loft for their service.

Kitchen says he'll be looking at potential venues in the next month in hopes of getting the party going again by mid-September.

Stay tuned.

Why is it that everytime an event that is held at a downtown venue that caters toward African-Americans is always cancelled/or done away with...I seem to remember not long ago, that the this same scenario happened at Club Menage. Now I may be "dead wrong" on this scenario, but I seriously doubt it.

I was told the reason the party stopped was because of people not tipping. When I attended POP LIFE the bar area was packed! and I'm pretty sure people tipped. I agree with you annonymous 1, African-Americans (Urban Professionals) can never have a setting where we can meet, drink and network without it be cancelled for some starnge reason. Adam the owner of LOFT was weird anyone...just strange. Good Luck Kitch! it will work out and you will be back better than ever. It's Loft's lost, you always had the placed packed.
