In honor of Cinco de Mayo, I'm sharing an old Aarthun family recipe for margaritas. We call them magic because it only takes one to get that warm and fuzzy feeling -- they've helped get us through many a family reunion.
Aunt Debi's Magic Margaritas
1. Fill half of shaker with ice
2. Pour 2 shots of Silver Patron Tequila into shaker
3. Pour 2 shots of Cointreau (citrus liqueur) into shaker
4. Finish off the shaker with Pre-mixed Lasco Lime Mix and Water (if you cannot find Lasco Lime Mix -- found in liquor supply stores -- use Bacardi Lime-aide frozen and add water). With both lime mixes you may want to add a bit of sugar or sweetener to take the bite of tartness out of the drink.
5. Salt the rim of drinking glasses (optional) with lime.
6. Add 1-2 pieces of lime to glasses.
7. Shake up and pour over ice.
*You can also add Grand Marnier for a bit of a kick. Also, a great summer twist is to leave the shaker with room to add 1 inch of Cranberry juice. The Magic Margs become Cosmoritas (no need to salt the rim for those).

sounds delish.
you know what is also really good...crate and barrel makes a pomegranate margarita mix....awesome! although a little bit dangerous...you can't taste the alcohol in the drink so you don't realize how much you're drinking :)
General interest question:
Why is Cointreau more expensive than Triple Sec?
Salt is only necessary when you are using sub-standard ingredients. Considering this margarita is something of a top shelf concoction, the salt seems a bit unnecessary.
Use fresh lime juice in equal parts with the Tequila and Cointreau. It is the perfect margarita and easy to remember recipe.
your family sounds awesome......
Sounds like a waste of good Tequila
Tequila is the most disgusting-tasting alcohol I've ever tried...I guess pounding NyQuil might be worse.
Using Patron in a margarita is a waste..1800 is about the highest I'd go..Jose cuervo margarita is about the best mix I've found..add the juice of an orange and a little bit of fresh lime juice..mix..THEN add Gran Marnier to the top..do not mix it in
cheaper tequila makes better margaritas.
