The Subaru River Jam concert series kicks off tonight at the U.S. National Whitewater Center.
The free weekly event, held every Thursday, runs from 7-10 p.m. through October. It's a family-friendly party (and dogs are welcome, too) held on the River's Edge patio overlooking the rapids.

Well, not exactly free if you still have to pay $5 for parking.....
This was a tradition for a group of us last summer. Get in a run/bike ride then hang out with a beer while listening to some music with a great back drop.
This was great last summer. Exactly like NoLimit said... get in a little exercise and then sit back with some friends and a beer and listen to some good music... while watching the sunset and/or the hilarity of people turning over in their rafts. haha. great experience. and the $5 is tolerable when ya have all the stuff mentioned above...
Forget Alive After 5 -- I'll take bluegrass, craft beer, and running water any day.
It was great last year. The bands were not always the best, but the over all experience was great. We went enough to make it worth a year long parking pass.
i agree with anonymous that we should focus on the $5 parking fee. I think its a travesty that we have to pay $5 and the only thing we get for it is the largest artificial whitewater river in the world, free music and an amazing scene of a couple of thousand people genuinely loving life. In fact i think anonymous should vote with his feet and stay away.
Fairly certain the Masonboro Boys aren't Rock-a-billy. They are more alt country. And they are awesome!
Yeah I've seen them open for Zac Brown Band at Visulite Theatre - a good fit for the WWC.
Will this help repay the loans they defaulted on?
I'm sure sundresses are allowed. How about bikini tops? BYOB?
