First look at Town Tavern

Buffalo Bills fans, rejoice!

You now have a new spot to watch TO's hissy fits.

Just got the official news release on Town Tavern, the replacement for Brick & Barrel. New owner (and St. Bonaventure University alum) Andrew Reid is teaming up with Bar Management Company to make it a hotspot for former Buffalo residents.

The new tavern will be a two-story sports bar and casual hangout.

"Stop by and throw a game of darts, shoot some pool, or just knock back a few with your buddies," according to the news release. "Town Tavern is sure to have the fun Happy Hour vibe Charlotte is looking for."

The bar will be open daily from 3 p.m.-2 a.m. and the grand opening is set for Aug. 21. For more info and to get your free tickets to the party, click here.

Town Tavern is the best name they could come up with? Too bad they couldn't come up with something even more generic.

good god... i need to move farther south asap.

I alos think Town Tavern is a bit generic, but I don't have a better suggestion.

Anyone have name suggestions?

I would have called it "Shenanigans"

How about 'Trolls'. There use to be a very popular bar by that name in Chapel Hill in 70's and 80's.

You mean BMG?

Great so we can expect .5 ounce pours and a $10 cover.

Let's go Buffalo said...

Another Buffalo bar? I've got a lot of friends down here from that area, but aren't we over-saturated with Buffalo bars? It's almost like there are Buffalo bars and then "the rest of the world" bars in Charlotte.

Will be interesting to see what they do with the location.

Name it TalliWackers.

why does every bar have to have its own team? seems like the entire league has its own spot here. i can appreciate different loyalties, but at some point...shouldn't more places in the city support the team that's located right down the st?

if you tag the bar for buffalo fans...don't you alienate everyone who isn't? i won't be lining up to get in.

Call it what you will, the two guys opening this place are two of the nicest guys you could hope to have a beer with. Uptown could use a place like this. Best of luck fellas!

How about Anchor Bar???

... but you can't sign up for their membership/mailing list if you were born prior to 1960 and tell the truth. Will us old fogeys not be welcome? :(

I'm excited about Town Tavern. That location is great!! I just hope they have an awesome beer selection.

BMG? pffft. One more place we're guaranteed to hear "Livin On A Prayer".

I'm going to open a Charlotte bar in Buffalo.

Wow...after reading all these comments I have to say (with dripping sarcasm) that I'm super impressed by the willingness to support new local businesses in Charlotte. I visit the city often, and I for one am excited about this new place! As for the complainers, I'm sure there's a TGI Friday's nearby.

i sure won't be supporting another local business that's pulling against my team. shove off.

Good Luck. At least someone is taking a risk. I'll stop by for a beer.

There is already a Towne Tavern in Fort Mill - a sister restaurant of Tavern of the Tracks. It too is a sports bar. The "new" Town Tavern should change it's name to avoid confusion.

I, too, am hoping that they have a good beer selection. Down/uptown is seriously lacking for a place to enjoy a nice selection of German, Belgian and American craft brews.

All I can say is this guy better have good chicken wings if he plans on attacting WNY transplants.

A Charlotte themed bar in Buffalo, eh? It would be nice to get some decent BBQ, hushpuppies or grits when I go back to visit family. But seriously, I doubt any sane person from Charlotte would want to move there. I mean, there's a reason half the city lives here...

I know we can be overbearing, but consider it a complement to how beautiful a city Charlotte is that so many of us want to set down new roots here.

I'm glad something is opening in that spot, but at the same time this city is obsessed with sports bars. Can't we get something cool and different for once?

Reido used to be fat! It's true!!!

anyone remember the Matthews Township Grill. Great fish fry on Friday night until they switched to cod. They were all about Buffalo. Hope to see Genny Lite, Zweigle's red and white hots. Beef on weck; a real fish fry made with haddock; all that good stuff. i wish them well. However, Go Panthers.

I'm looking forward to Beef on Wick and Friday fish fries. I'm also hoping to see "Blue lights" at a reasonable price. As far as the name, the owners should take a run up to South buffalo and ask permission to use the name Blackthorne and I will be in heaven!
