The Uptown Amphitheatre opens tomorrow with headliners The Fray. Folk-rocker Corey Smith opens The Fillmore Charlotte next Friday. Both new venues are operated by Live Nation under a long-term deal.
I got a sneak peek of the places and previewed them for today's paper. Click here to read.

I give it 2 yrs
Since I hear there is only one way in and one way out of these venues, this gives the police the perfect scenario to set up a DWI checkpoint for every event to snag everyone leaving who has had a drink. I can foresee this happening. So my advice is if you're going to drink at a show, keep this in mind.
To the poster at 11:15AM who said they give it two years, I'd beg to differ. This place has a long term contract with Live Nation, the country's largest promoter. We should now get all those little shows that skip to places like the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach. I think tihs place is here to stay. Unfortunatley though, I'd switch your predication and guess Amos', Neighborhood Theater, Visualite, Tremont, etc, probably only have 2 more years. Live Nation is going to run them out of business.
im scared this might take away from the new south beach resort pool at ballantyne!!! insert sad face.
